Young and dynamic companies ready to enforce Belgian's medical resilience

Diegem, 27 April 2026 - PwC Belgium launches the newest edition of its Scale programme, aimed at accelerating the growth of European medtech startups, scale-ups, and SMEs operating at the intersection of civilian and military sectors. For the 7th year in a row, PwC’s Scale programme brings together a select group of innovative companies for an 8-week journey of learning, networking, and business development.

In a world where everything is changing and geopolitical tensions are rising, medical resilience has become increasingly vital. PwC Belgium’s programme is dedicated to bridging the gap between medtech companies and civilian and military organisations, responding to a clear need in the industry. Participating companies are supported in their efforts to boost sales, refine their go-to-market strategies, and prepare to scale up within highly regulated and strategic markets.

Promising participants

20 European start-ups and scale-ups with validated solutions in the civilian and military medtech industry were chosen among 1500 screened companies. This year, seven Belgian scale-ups will participate in the programme:

  • Puxano: A biotech R&D company providing AI-driven structural biology and protein engineering services to accelerate drug discovery and biotech innovation (Ghent)
  • Point Caré: Building AI‑powered decision‑support tools for critical care, helping anaesthesiologists and perioperative teams make faster, safer, and more informed decisions. (Ghent)
  • ADLC: Operates BVLOS drone logistics networks enabling rapid and reliable transport of industrial and medical cargo. (Antwerp)
  • Praesens Care: Building autonomous mobile medical laboratories deployable in remote and conflict zones, capable of on-site testing for 200 pathologies with no fixed infrastructure required. (Brussels)
  • Faqir: Helps hospitals and healthcare organisations structure, share, and reuse health data across systems using open standards. (Ghent)
  • InnVentAir: Building the next generation of mechanical ventilators, focused on making ventilation smarter and more personalised, addressing gaps in adaptability and clinical usability that the COVID-19 pandemic made impossible to ignore. (Leuven)
  • Advanced Defense Systems (ADS) is developing next-generation counter-drone and defense solutions designed to be both cost-effective and rapidly deployable in a wide range of operational environments.

Participants from various other European countries include:

  • Luminify/Aspichi
  • BlueLight Humanitarian Airlines
  • Herges Detection
  • Avivobio
  • Replique
  • First15
  • KatalX
  • LipoCoat
  • Delox
  • Hospitainer
  • Nanoworx
  • Kenku Health

Steven De Bruyn, PwC Belgium Defence Leader, states: “In a world that is changing it is imperative that companies seek long-term viability. With this programme we support resilience in society and help scale-ups move from readiness to resilience and in the end, we connect them with potential partners in the civilian and military sectors.”

About PwC’s Scale programme

PwC Belgium has been running its own accelerator programme, called Scale, for the past seven years. Each edition is tailored to address a particular industry or technology, featuring notable success stories in sectors such as life sciences, agrifood and sustainable manufacturing. The programme exclusively selects European startups with a proven track record which are looking to scale their operations up to international level. Building on experience from last year’s successful edition, focused on Aerospace & Defense, PwC Belgium continues to deepen its engagement in this sector.

This industry-focused approach allows PwC Belgium to customise the content of the masterclasses to effectively address the typical challenges faced by fast-growing companies. Relevant corporates and industry players are invited to meet the startups during the Innovation Day, facilitating potential collaborations. Since its first edition, Scale has evolved into a community of over 100 alumni in Belgium and has facilitated connections with more than 500 corporates. This initiative has successfully fostered collaborations between startups, clients and PwC Belgium.

"The challenges are clear, the ambition is there but the path isn't, yet"
30 March 2026, Diegem - Belgian HR leaders are keenly aware of the seismic workforce shifts ahead. A new survey with Belgian HR decision makers conducted by PwC Belgium still finds critical gaps in data capability, change management, regulatory readiness, and strategic positioning are leaving organisations exposed at a time when speed of reinvention is everything. PwC Belgium’s CHRO Survey reveals a workforce transformation paradox. The will is there, but the wiring isn't. HR leaders aren't short on ambition. “The real challenge is closing the gaps and turning that ambition into results. Whether it's upgrading systems, building new skills, rethinking reward, ensuring legal compliance, or earning a stronger voice at the strategy table. The gap between what HR wants to do and what it actually delivers is where the story gets interesting”, says Axel Smits, Workforce Services Leader at PwC Belgium.
