With the delivery of 200 electric cars - MINI Cooper E -PwC Belgium doubles the number of fully electric commercial vehicles

More and more young employees are opting for electric company cars. By the end of the year, PwC Belgium and MINI Belux will deliver a total of 200 brand new 100% electric MINIs to their starting employees. A total saving of 400 tons of CO2 emissions per year, which will allow PwC Belgium to achieve its ambition for an emission-free fleet 2 years faster.

In 2021, professional services provider PwC Belgium committed to reducing the emissions of its vehicle fleet by 20% every two years, with the ultimate ambition of net zero emissions by 2030. Thanks to the replacement of 200 BMW 1 series diesel cars with new electric MINIs, the professional services provider saves 400 tons of CO2 per year.

This ambition is in line with the plans of MINI, which positions itself as a pioneer in this area. Since its foundation, MINI has been the car that always does ‘more’ with ‘less’. With the new electric MINI Cooper, the British brand is delivering on its promise to combine driving performance, iconic design, environmental awareness and a typical go-kart feeling - all the qualities of an ideal fleet car.

Electric cars at all levels

During this month, MINI Belux and PwC Belgium have already welcomed almost 160 young employees in Vilvoorde, where they were given all the information to make the most of their new 100% electric MINI Cooper, followed by the handover of the keys. With today’s delivery and the one at the end of the year, the company will have a total of 300 electrified MINIs in its fleet. PwC Belgium now has EVs at all functional levels of the company and is doubling the number of electric vehicles in its fleet.

Patrick Boone, Chairman of PwC Belgium: “This delivery is a major step forward for the sustainability of PwC Belgium. As a company, we have the ambition and responsibility to be Net Zero by 2030, both by maximally reducing our emissions and by compensating for the remaining impact. With this switch to electric MINIs, we will achieve the Net Zero end goal of an emission-free fleet in 2028 instead of 2030.”
Alexander Wehr, CEO of BMW Group Belux: “2024 is the year of transformation at MINI, particularly in terms of electric vehicles. The new MINI Cooper SE fits perfectly within the framework of Europe’s electrification goals, but also from a technological and innovative standpoint. The fact that a player such as PwC, for whom reducing the carbon footprint is also a key element of its sustainable development strategy, trusts us demonstrates that we are more than on the right track. Electrification is the new chapter in the history of sustainable development that we are writing together.”
Gabriel Goffoy, General Manager of MINI Belux: "More than ever, MINI is showing great maturity in the face of societal evolution. Here, we have the ideal product that fits perfectly within the framework of European electrification goals by 2035. MINI positions itself as a pioneer in this respect and has an ideal range for companies, notably our MINI Cooper SE model which goes up to 402 km in the WLTP cycle. We are well-positioned on all fronts: it is a modern, zero-emission car that records excellent residual value results. We combine the qualities of the ideal fleet car with the fun side and go-kart feeling so typical of MINI."
Sandy Aers, COO of PwC Belgium: “All our investments in sustainable mobility are part of PwC Belgium’s ambition to reduce the emissions of our journeys to 0 grams of CO2. We do this thanks to mobility budgets, an office close to a train station, the possibility of leasing bicycles and therefore also this supply of fully electric cars. More than three quarters (77%) of our fleet is now (at least partly) electric. In the coming years, we will continue to focus on the sustainability and electrification of our cars. Thanks to this collaboration with BMW Group Belux and the new electric MINIs, we can now also make sustainable, fully electric cars available to the starters in our company and we save 400 tons of CO2 per year, the equivalent of what almost 20,000 trees filter out of the air per year.”
