PwC Belgium and Avalara strengthen alliance to accelerate indirect tax technology implementations

Brussels, Belgium, 8 October 2026 - Building on a strong track record of successful joint implementations, PwC Belgium and Avalara (an agentic AI leader in global tax and compliance), today announced that they are further strengthening their long-standing relationship to help multinational organisations navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of e-invoicing and (e-)reporting.

"With obligations expanding rapidly across the globe, organisations need both highly tailored technology and specialised implementation expertise to stay compliant. Our dedicated practice for global e-invoicing and e-reporting, led from Belgium, has helped clients across a large number of countries navigate this shift with confidence. By strengthening our alliance with Avalara, we are bringing their powerful software even closer to our advisory and implementation capabilities, so clients can go live faster, with greater confidence and lower risk," states Ellen Cortvriend, Partner, PwC Belgium, and Willem Vandromme, Tax Technology Director, PwC Belgium.

How PwC and Avalara work together

The alliance combines Avalara's full indirect tax automation suite—AvaTax for tax determination and calculation, Avalara E-Invoicing and Live Reporting (ELR), and Avalara VAT Reporting—with PwC's advisory and implementation expertise, delivered through its specialised e-invoicing and e-reporting practice in Belgium, which supports clients on global mandates.

PwC Belgium has built deep expertise in global electronic compliance and supports the entire PwC network on cross-border engagements. The team draws on more than 2,000 indirect tax experts and over 12,000 technology specialists across the PwC network, and maintains 500+ compliance validations.

PwC Belgium is also an official Avalara Certified Implementation Partner (CIP), with dedicated, certified tax technology specialists supporting clients across major enterprise platforms, including SAP (S/4HANA, ECC), Oracle (Fusion Cloud ERP, EBS), Microsoft Dynamics 365, Workday Financials, Basware and IFS Cloud.

In essence PwC's dedicated e-invoicing team in Belgium guides clients through every stage of their tax automation journey, from impact assessment, scoping, requirements gathering and design, through build, testing and go-live, to hypercare and ongoing managed services, ensuring a seamless transition to Avalara's solutions and full alignment with local regulatory requirements.

Looking ahead: towards a unified tax automation offering

The pace of regulatory change shows no sign of slowing. E-invoicing and real-time reporting mandates are already active or imminent in more than 80 jurisdictions worldwide, with over 50 new mandates introduced in the past two years alone. Initiatives such as the EU's VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) framework are set to extend structured e-invoicing obligations further still. At the same time, tax authorities are shifting from periodic, post-audit reviews towards continuous transaction controls (CTCs) and real-time, transaction level oversight, with e-invoicing, e-reporting and SAF-T style obligations increasingly converging into unified compliance frameworks.

As tax determination, invoicing, reporting and controls become ever more intertwined, PwC Belgium and Avalara are deepening their alliance to ensure their respective solutions work seamlessly together across tax determination, e-invoicing, e-reporting, continuous transaction controls, and real-time compliance dashboards, giving organisations a streamlined path to managing their entire tax automation footprint from one integrated offering.

"As compliance shifts from periodic filings to real-time oversight, businesses need one connected path from tax determination through e-invoicing, e-reporting and continuous transaction controls," said Jeff Sobers, VP, Global Alliances at Avalara. "Our long-standing collaboration with PwC Belgium is central to delivering that unified experience, and this next step in our alliance reflects how much further we can take it together."
