PwC and Microsoft announce strategic collaboration to transform industries with AI agents

London, 30 January 2025 — PwC and Microsoft announced a strategic collaboration aimed at transforming industries with the power of AI agents. This collaboration seeks to harness AI's potential to drive business value, enhance customer engagement and streamline operations across various sectors.

This collaboration between PwC and Microsoft focuses on deploying AI agents—sophisticated systems capable of performing tasks autonomously, analysing data and aiding decision-making. Together, PwC and Microsoft will provide businesses with the tools needed to embrace AI agents as strategic assets that enhance efficiency and drive innovation.

Stephanie Mosticchio, Global Microsoft Alliance Leader, PwC US, said:

"Serving 85% of the Fortune 500, we are not just looking at Copilot for efficiency gains and productivity increases but also for fundamentally changing business processes. Copilot is not just a tool – but a platform for end-to-end transformation and to enable clients to get impactful products and offerings to market quicker and at a fraction of the cost. This is why we are excited to collaborate with Microsoft, to share the power of agentic AI with our broad client base. As one of the largest Microsoft 365 Copilot customers globally, PwC has Copilot licenses enabled and deployed more than 40 countries. This achievement is underlined by our recognition as the Microsoft 2024 Global Partner of the Year for Building with AI."

The collaboration represents a phased adoption journey enabling organisations to empower their employees, scale to role-specific and area-wide scenarios through tailored AI-driven use cases and advance to fully autonomous agents embedded within their enterprise ecosystems. Combining PwC’s extensive industry experience to leverage advanced Microsoft technologies including Copilot Studio will help to drive transformative business outcomes for clients. By facilitating seamless cloud migration, businesses can scale operations, enable innovation, and significantly reduce costs. The integration of data analytics and AI empowers organisations with actionable insights, improving customer experiences and operational efficiencies. This collaboration also emphasises hyperautomation, enabling businesses to automate complex workflows, optimise resources, and streamline logistics. With a focus on intelligent process automation, PwC and Microsoft are committed to delivering scalable, secure, and impactful AI solutions tailored to meet specific industry needs.

Stephen Boyle, GSI Leader at Microsoft said:

"Our collaboration with PwC underscores our commitment to provide transformative solutions that will enable growth and deliver lasting value for customers. Using the innovative potential of Copilot, and autonomous agent capabilities, we can help customers accelerate AI transformation across industries, to help organisations achieve successful business outcomes.”

PwC’s Agents Factory is a key differentiator in this framework as it’s designed to ensure a foundational definition on how to access data, assure data privacy and ethical use of AI, define core elements for creating agents. This will help each agent to be swiftly created, ensuring they are tailored to meet specific client needs and industry requirements, but always respecting the organisation’s standards and policies.

Mauro Xavier, EMEA Microsoft Alliance Leader, PwC Spain, said:

"In today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape, adopting agentic AI is not just an option but a necessity for businesses aiming to stay competitive. Our collaboration with Microsoft leverages the strengths of both organisations to deliver innovative AI solutions that drive efficiency, foster innovation, and unlock new avenues for growth. By integrating agentic AI, we are enabling our clients to transform their operations, enhance decision-making, and achieve lasting business value. This collaboration is a testimonial for our shared vision of empowering organisations to navigate the complexities of digital transformation and succeed in the modern era."
