Patrick Boone new Chairman PwC Belgium

28th of June 2024, Diegem - Following PwC Belgium’s official leadership rotation, Managing Partner Patrick Boone has been appointed as the next Chair of PwC Belgium for a four-year term, effective 1 July 2024. Patrick Boone succeeds Axel Smits, who was leading PwC Belgium since 2016 and will now take up the role as Managing Partner in PwC Europe.

PwC Belgium conducts a partner sounding every four years to select their future leader. Following consultations with the 70 partners in Belgium, Patrick Boone was elected as the chairman, starting his four-year term on July 1, 2024. Until now, Patrick Boone was responsible for leading PwC Belgium's Tax & Legal practice since 2016.

The new chairman takes the helm in challenging times marked by a technological revolution that is compelling companies and organisations to reinvent themselves and their employees.

Patrick Boone states, “We’re a firm that’s here to stay. With 175 years of business acumen, yet flexible enough to evolve, innovate and transform for the future. And our own transformations as ‘client zero’ benefit all our clients. In times of change in a rapidly changing world, we’re best placed to support businesses in navigating the transformations they undergo. With an integrated and tech-powered approach, we’ll guide them from A to Z, instilling the necessary trust to navigate both the GenAI onslaught and the pursuit of sustained solutions and long term growth.”

Axel Smits, who was leading PwC Belgium from 2016 until now, will be taking up the role as managing partner of PwC Europe, a grouping of several continental European countries within the PwC network. During his 8-year leadership he managed to bring PwC Belgium growth of 75%. In Belgium he will be leading the Reward team and further expand the People Related Services practice.

AI investments and an explosion of megadeals are creating a K-shaped M&A market
Diegem, 29 January 2026 - Momentum heading into 2026 suggests that global M&A is entering a new phase, shaped less by cyclical recovery and more by structural change. In its latest Global M&A Industry Trends - Outlook 2026, PwC reports a resurgence of megadeals, combined with accelerating investment in AI and enabling infrastructure, driving higher deal values even as volumes remain muted. “This divergence highlights the emergence of a K-shaped M&A market, where activity is increasingly concentrated among large, well-capitalised buyers and select markets and sectors,” says Veronique Gilles, Partner PwC Belgium.

PwC Belgium speeds up fleet electrification and expands EV charging network
Brussels, 25 November 2025 – PwC Belgium is committed to becoming CO₂-neutral by 2030, and its vehicle fleet represents a significant share of those emissions. To accelerate this transition, PwC continues to invest heavily in electrifying its fleet by adding 723 electric vehicles to its car park and expanding its charging infrastructure. “Our ambition to become CO₂-neutral by 2030 drives every decision we make,” says Patrick Boone, Chairman, PwC Belgium. “The electrification of our fleet is a major step in reducing emissions, and we’re committed to making this transition as seamless as possible for our employees. By investing in office charging infrastructure, we remove one of the biggest barriers to electric driving and ensure our people can commute in a safe, sustainable and convenient way.”
