Belgium builds steady momentum in Electric Vehicle adoption Q1 2026

Belgium continues to advance in the electric vehicle transition, with Q1 2026 showing a solid EV market share of 53%. Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) sales accounted for 35% of the market with nearly 40,000 units sold, maintaining strong consumer interest despite a slight year-on-year dip.

Plug-in hybrids and hybrids remain an important part of the mix, reflecting Belgian drivers’ practical and balanced approach to electrification. As Belgium strengthens its foundation in clean mobility, ongoing collaboration and supportive policies will be key to sustaining this momentum.
